Guanacos are a
member of the camelid family being most closely related to the
llama. Adult males can weigh anything from 220-330 pounds and
the adult female weighs 220-270 pounds. They have a gestation
period of 345 days. The guanaco has a double coat consisting of
guard hairs that keeps moisture and debris out, and a finer
undercoat. Guanacos originate in the Andes Mountains in South
America. |
